Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software.  It's intended for anyone making interactive projects.  Arduino senses the environment by receiving inputs from many sensors, and affects its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators.  You can tell your Arduino what to do by writing code in the Arduino programming language and using the Arduino development environment.

The subject of micro-controllers has always interested Gerard and after looking around at other options he decided on the Arduino platform to start his experimentation with.  He bought a starter kit and started to learn using on-line resources as well as the course provided with the starter kit.  The kit was bought from the Bot Shop here in Waverly

The resistors are difficult to read due their size (and Gerard´s age) so he employed a digital microscope to enlarge the resistor so that the colours can easily been recognised to determine the value.
